MG TD TF 1500 - Forum help needed on Christmas Day
Please help I am getting desperate The Christmas tree lights have fused. Is my house positive or negative earth? Also the mother in law has just turned up for Christmas lunch. She is starting to make a continuous and very irritating noise. Should I ignore it or does she just need lubrication. The children are rattling and banging around the house. Do they need strapping down or should I not worry about it? Finally my wife is cooking in the kitchen and things are starting to over heat. I am concerned she might get vapour lock unless she rests. Should I get her to switch off for half an hour or will a large glass of white wine cool her down enough to continue? I am going out to the garage. Things are simpler out there. |

Ray, That's very good :) but every time I compose a solution to your problem it comes out VERY un PC. particularly my thoughts on using the tried an tested full choke solution for getting over vapour lock and getting things running again.... Happy Christmas! |

Chris I am getting close to using full choke on the Mother in Law |

I think she whines because her bonnet is on too tight. Perhaps like the good old American autos she needs a big boot.... and with that I think we'll go for a drive - it's sunny here this morning (about 4 C). |

Christmas morning's about done. It's 35F going toward 40F with a crystal clear sky. Waiting 'til 2:30 ("hottest" part of the day :-)) and then o'er the hills we go in the TD. Have a wonderfull "Safety Fast" holiday!! Jud |

That is great, here in MN it is 24 degrees with 4 inches of new snow, we did have a White Christmas. |

Not too sure about the 24 degrees and 35f, we had a beautiful 34C day for xmas, no snow though. Don Walker TF 4887 |

Here in southern Québec, also a nice sunny day. Started out at -24°C (sorry, don't what that is in the old system) but like most in the North East, we also had lottsa ice acuppla days b4. All's well. Santa treated me quite well, but no new water pump for my PA. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

I've found positive earth is a better attitude to have in your household. As for the mother in law, do the same as you do with your car. When she (or the car) irritates you, lock it (or her) in the garage until you feel like dealing with the issue. Definitely strap the children down as you would any loose item in your car. This is the only way to retain sanity. In the car I mean. ;) If the wife is overheating, pour as much water on the problem as necessary to cool it (her) off. I'm sure she will appreciate it as much as your car would! Disclaimer: When the above results in divorce, I will not be to blame. ;) |
