MG TD TF 1500 - Found a 51 TD! In pieces!

I found a 51 TD, literally in pieces. Haven't seen all of it looking through a dirty window in an abandoned building. Can't tell how much is there. I've been the past week trying to reach the owner, so far no dice! But I've been known to be slightly persistent in such matters. LOL. Probably have to find who's name is on the deed to the property, looks like it has been vacant for years. If anything comes to pass, I'll keep you posted. PJ

Good luck Paul. I know that I would not be sleeping at night if I found a TF abandoned nearby.

I need another car like I need the flu! Problem I've found is, it's a sickness no doctor can cure. Only remedy I've found is, another car! British of course! And, the mystery of the hunt. LOL. PJ

My name is Bob, and I have bought 2 1/2 TD's in the last 13 months. I can't believe I'd ever even entertain the thought, but, maybe my wife is righ...

NAH!

Seriously, if it is just "sleeping there" you would be doing it, the current owner, and the world a favor by rescuing it, bringing it back to life. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

When we buy these old cars, we invariable take then down to pieces, so that part shouldn't scare anyone too badly.

Good luck, and have fun.

In rural France my son and I make a habit of looking into barns. Often the only way to see what's inside is to slide the camera under the rotten doors and take a picture.

Of course we dream of finding a Bugatti, but that has eluded us up until now. Attached is an example of such a picture.

Bob, The only problem that could arise when finding a pile of parts is, are they all there! Sometimes cheap isn't so cheap if you want to put it all back together. Fortunately, I'm not one to sell every thing off as parts, I like to put them together. PJ

Today I bought a 53 TD in parts incl engine gearbox , instruments from a fine Gentleman in Vancouver. BC . According to my wife : "Thank God " ..now you have another project and your spirits are high again so will be your mood ..for the next time to come I hope.

I replied : Honey .. I just saved another from the scrap yard.

I found an email address of the party that has control of the 51 TD. I have sent them 4 emails! They do not respond! I don't know where they live, that also seems to be a mystery. Maybe their on a European trip and won't be back till spring? Have to think positive, right. Grin. Maybe I just have them thinking. PJ

Finding the elusive missing Bugatti Royale in a barn, what a great dream!

I know a guy that found a Dusenburg with a special body in a falling down shed covered with a ton of newspapers and chicken and pigeon deposits all over it. Buried for years, he bought it for $60,000! This was in the early 70s. The guy who owned it lived like a recluse in a shack in the middle of an old junk yard. The junk yard was full of old Packards, Buicks etc. I lost track of the car, but it tells you, you never know what's out there. PJ

Near Southampton UK there is a TF in pieces in a shed. It is complete although the body will need replacing.

Some years ago I found the remains of a TF in a suburban back yard. I sold it to a friend who made it into a "special" and raced it. It finished up in Victoria and I think it is still around.
