MG TD TF 1500 - Fun day with the new club

Chose a name..." The Whitworth Nuts"

Had our monthly meeting and had some British Iron show...some in something from this side of the pond.

L E D LaVerne

While several had other plans after the meeting, those of us here had an invite to go look at something that I got a call from yesterday.

So the question is .... "Whats in your Barn?"

L E D LaVerne

Thats right...hasn't been on the road since 1974

L E D LaVerne

For those who didn't get it on the first shot...this should do it.

L E D LaVerne

Thats right..it's a 49 TC. Fellow called me yesterday after he heard about our group from a local garage. Turns out he was a doctor that had surgically repaired my elbow back when I was 15...small world. Said he quit driving it after somebody ran into it in the parking lot at the hospital. He fixed the damage and then parked it.

L E D LaVerne

I didn't ask about the red paint..but if I got the story right...his uncle bought the car in 1962 in Ireland...thats where he was born.

L E D LaVerne

I know some people would kill for this OE rocker cover hanging on the wall.

L E D LaVerne

Or...I missed the shot of the XPAG cylinder head laying on the floor. Thats an MGA 1500

L E D LaVerne

Thats a good enough story in it's own right and by now your mumbling that thats cool but it isn't a TD or TF.

So here's more

L E D LaVerne

A 1250 TF that was taken apart...repainted and not put back together. Again..not on the road since the early 70's.

L E D LaVerne

I was pretty excited.

L E D LaVerne

I believe the car might be registered with the New England T group. I wiped the layers of dust off to get a shot of the plate.

L E D LaVerne

Found the shot of the head...he thought it was an MGA.

L E D LaVerne

Engine

L E D LaVerne

Long walk back up to the house and another barn

L E D LaVerne

And hidden in a corner of the garage.

L E D LaVerne

And if that isn't enough for you..in the other barn was this.

L E D LaVerne

Ford built Jeep. Thats about it.

L E D LaVerne

You failed to mention the TC gearbox laying beside the 1500 head.

LaVerne, that rocker cover is what I have on my car, Mine is a repo of that one. The oil fill cover on that is what I am looking for in a radiator cap.. I know where one is but no luck in buying it as yet. maybe the new club should try and make it up to GOF 14 in Minnesota next year. You all would be welcome. It is in a great place and the Mall of America is around the corner and we may have a special tour arranged that every car guy should see. http://mnmgtr.org/MNMGTR/Home.html

Love the name Whitworth Nuts...

Both the TC and TF have been registered with the New England MG T Register.
