MG TD TF 1500 - Gearbox extension replacement
Holy Cow, spent the morning in failed attempts to put the gearbox extension back in place. No luck so far! Any advice out there? I don't know what gear it is in or how to tell. Thanks, Tom |

If I remember correctly, I put the transmission in neutral and the shifter in the neutral position and they went back together. PJ |

Thanks for the reply PJ. How can I tell if the gearbox is in neutral? Tom |

Tom, I seem to remember that there was something about the shifter position, I believe it was put in the center and pulled full back to get it started in the case. I'm guessing on this one as it's been a while. PJ |

If the transmission is in the car, just rock it when you think you have the gears disengaged and it should roll freely, if it's out of the car, just turn the rear driveshaft flange and it should turn free with the pilot shaft stationary. PJ |

The gearbox is in neutral when the slots in the selectors are aligned: Bud ![]() |

Wow Bud, you hit the nail on the head. Your picture is exactly what I need. THANKS to all. Tom ( When I run across you, Bud, I see that you get an O.S.H.) |

Just as a follow up, with the help of Bud's Picture, I now have joy with the gearbox. Tom |
