MG TD TF 1500 - Generator Terminals Fasteners

Starting at the fiber insulator and working outward, what kind of nuts and washers are used to connect wires to the field and "D" terminals of a C39 P2 generator?

I'm reassembling my generator after painting it. The generator has an odd assortment of fasteners for the terminals. One of them is a rubber-like washer-insulator nominal 1/4" I.D. and 5/8" O.D. (Did I goof? Does the rubber washer go inside?)

And a second question about the generator:
How tight does the nut have to be that holds the pulley to the armature shaft? I had to use an impact wrench to remove it. Should I use it again to assemble?

Thanks for your help,

I'm pretty sure these are the nuts that came on this NOS end plate I got on eBay and installed at restoration in 2007. That is gunk and not rust on the small nut. Looks like cad plating to me. Of course I have no idea if the replacement end plates had same fasteners as original. I have a brass nut that is perfect fit/size for the large one, I'll mail it if you want it. While out of focus, note the cross hatched knurling on the original tach drive coupling nut. Could the rubber fit between the small terminal post and the metal case? No idea but size seems right. Impact gun- no way! The armature steel is soft and I personally destroyed the threads on one years ago. George

George -

Once again, thanks.

I have brass 1/4-BSF and 2-BA nuts for the terminals.

The WSM diagram shows two washers on the field terminal and I assume on the "D" terminal also. I see two washers on your "D". Is one of the washers a lock washer? Split washer? Inside star washer?

My terminals had a jam nut, a nyloc, split washers, star washers, flat washers, etc. I'll eliminate.

I started to mask the three rivets and leave them natural as in your photo. Wish that I had.

I'll heed your advice to not use an impact wrench. You may have saved my generator.

Not sure about the washers and would rather not take it apart to check... It looks like two on the D, which match finish on the nut so maybe came with them. The field looks like a modern lock washer (the edge is rounded) to me. George

I have the same as George but my nuts are brass. Could be that the CAD just wore off and I did not know any better.

Thanks guys. On each brass stud, I'm using a brass nut, a brass flat washer, and a bronze split lock washer.
