MG TD TF 1500 - Generator - vintage rebuilder ?
Any recommendations for a quality rebuilder of vintage MG generators? The non-TF generator in my '55 TF-1500 died this weekend. I want to replace it with a good rebuilt one in a correct Lucas C39PV2 (Serv #22265B) case. Would also like the rebuilder to adjust my voltage regulator to match the new distributor. Thanks, Lonnie TF7211

Lonnie - Look around locally for the oldest Auto electric shop you can find. If you are lucky, you might find said generator right there. If that fails, try Jerry Felper felperg@earthlink.net or 714-630-1074 in California - he may well have one. Finally check in the Lucas parts section of the MG Auction Watch at: http://www.mgauctionwatch.com/auctions.php?model=General Cheers - Dave

Agree with Dave. I took my generator into our local generator shop and not only was he able to rebuild mine, He had a lucas case that was actually the same year as my car. I picked it up as a spare.

Don't forget to ask the local agricultural dealer where to get Generators done. A lot of early tractors used Lucas Generators and there is a huge following for vintage tractors.

Lonnie, I used this company. They even fixed my broken pulley. http://www.starautoelectric.com/page1.php Just a satisfied customer. Jim

I contacted Star Auto Electric. They had a Lucas C39PV2 (Serv #22265B) generator for my TF. But the next day, a BBS member contacted me. He shipped the same generator to me a half hour after we talked. It arrived two days later and I installed it. Works and looks great. AND it is the correct number for my car. WOW! Once again, I say ... "this is a great forum." Thanks to all, Lonnie TF7211
