MG TD TF 1500 - Green Dash Light

Hello everyone. I have a '53 TD. The green turn signal indicator light stays lit all the time. It goes off when the turn signal is activated and comes back on when the turn signal shuts off. Is this the way it is suppose to work? Any insights will be appreciated.
Thanks, Tom

It is supposed to blink.

Some things to check:
Make sure there are good grounds for the lamp and the panel it's attached to. Same with the control box and flasher. And also the lamps themselves can cause strange conditions when grounds go bad. Not easy to diagnose.

The turn control box could be broken and would have to be replaced

It may possible the flasher is bad too but I am not certain.

Chris is correct, especially the viability of the flasher. I doubt the relay box has anything to do with the problem as it is downstream (electrically) of the terminal on the flasher for the indicator light.
Lew Palmer

Tom, is this a sudden problem, or has it been this way since day 1? Any chance that you replaced the flasher recently? Bud

The car is near rebuilt. Flasher is new, harness is new. For what it's worth, the lights blink very rapidly. The light staying on and only going off when directionals are activated really threw me. I know from readings that the ground in these cars is often problematic. Thanks for your help, I'll keep after it. The front directionals are pig tails that I have to rig a ground to. Maybe when the front wings go on the situation will change.
Lew,the email address I have for you didn't work. Could you email me your address. Thanks.

"For what it's worth, the lights blink very rapidly"

From memory this usually indicated one of the bulbs was not active (could be a bad ground). Also make sure the bulb is not opposite in the holder. Some of those pig tailed sockets you can put the bulb in both ways. So make sure the parking light position is dimmer than the stop, turn position.
