Ah Steve - Thanks for the 2014 BBTS pics. A beautiful day for sure. Here is a question - I was curious how many TF's were built the day mine was. I looked up the build dates on the T-register production "factory records" site for those units either side of my TF8926 and it appears as though TF8919 through TF8939 were all built on the 19th of January 1955 - making 21 units that day. However - in the run of these numbers it says TF8934 was built on the 17th of January. It seems odd that the production sequence would jump backwards two days for TF8934. Is it possible this is a typo? Does someone have another "factory record' to determine when TF8934 was built? Was it the 17th or the 19th? Rick |

RTWalsh-I am not sure if I know the answer to your question but I found an inspection sheet behind the kick panel of my TF showing that it was pulled off the line to fix some paint defects, etc. over a period of days, which I guess would have put it out of sequence with other cars on the line. JKB |

I wanted to share what I learned from some direct email conversations with Tom Lange. Tom has an interesting resource of MG production records and was able to answer my question - how many TF's were made the same day as mine - January 19th, 1955 ? (TF8926). The answer is a total of 44 units. It was interesting to learn they were not made consecutively by chassis number but rather in batches by color. It was possible to determine how many were for home market and export, RHD vs. LHD, and lacquer vs. enamel. There were 8 units HDE43 - like mine. Thanks Tom! Rick Walsh |
