MG TD TF 1500 - hardware for radiator shell TF

Which hardware was original used for mounting the chrome shell to the side plates of the radiator?

Moss catalogue doesn't show anything. NTG catalogue describes 12 countersunk BSF screws with nuts for all the T-types. But on a TF fitting the nuts doesn't look easy.

Self tapping screws with "speed nuts"? Or machine screws with speed nuts (they also exist with treads inside) ?

Anglo Parts have a kit for this explicit purpose (133-245).

Check their catalog, no details of what the kit contains.

Unfortunately this kit shows "not available" at the website of angloparts...

Try Brown & Gammons

Go to TD and TF, Cooling, Rad Shells and fittings. Might find something you need there. PJ

I realize that it is impossible to see in this picture, but the nuts are fixed to the side panels. If yours are missing the you will need to aquire them and weld them to the panel.

MG LaVerne

Maybe this will help

Try 5/16 BSF. I Just replaced mine as a preliminary to remove the Shell when I have time to add a 7 blade B fan. As stated by MG LaVerne, the nuts are captive so hopefully they are still attached. I used 5/16 BSF x 1/2" bolts I purchased from Moss. The originals have a slight taper lead, the ones I purchased did not and took a few attempts to get them to start

Thankis for all the info.
Maybe my question was not clear enough.

It is the fitting of the chrome shell to the triangular black little side plates around the radiator I am looking for, not the big side plates with the louvres and wings.

There are three nuts welded to each side plate but they are for fitting the wings. As in the picture of MG LaVerne, there are holes (for 3/16" bolts ? ) for the chrome shell.

Dear all, just looked again in my garage and speed nuts with self tapping screws makes sense.

Slotted head or Phillips head?
J.L.E. van den Boorn

Phillips head.
Probably!
