MG TD TF 1500 - Headlight Bracket TD
Is this a left or a right(sitting in the car facing forward)? The bracket has a boss on one side. It looks like the boss should be under the head of the shoulder bolt and the larger flat area should be under the nut. The bolt should insert from the front. That being said, I have ordered one of each from Brown & Gammons and Abingdon Spares. Both are labeled in the reverse of this logic. I can't seem to locate the bracket in the Moss catalog. Anyone know the page or part number? Mort ![]() |

I did find it in the Moss book page 29, 407-420 R/H & 407-410 L/H. Below is a photo of the Moss bracket which does not have a boss on either side. ![]() |

Mine do not have a boss. If you put the bracket on the wrong side it will not make up with either the fender holes or the radiator tie bar ends. Its not the boss that determines LH or RH its the mounting plate on the other end wit the two bolts. Jim B. |

Looks like the "boss" should be filed or ground flat, originals were just flat on both side. Jim correct above also. George |

Thank you Jim but please ignore my dumb question. I just realized that since it is a shoulder bolt it can only go thru in one direction. If you want the head of the bolt toward the front then it can only go one way. Working too fast. Mort |

Just finished painting my original brackets. Both have the "boss" & it faces to the rear. Mort's last post has the answer. Cheers. Peter TD 5801 |

I forgot the holes are different sizes. Maybe some were cast with a boss and some without? George |

No boss on mine Early TD |

Apparently there are more than one manufacturer of the brackets. Abingdon Spares and Brown & Gammon sell the one with the boss and Moss sells the one without. |
