MG TD TF 1500 - Help with Lever Identification/Location

Hello, I'm about to undertake a SU H2 carb rebuild on my 1951 MG TD. I broke down the carbs all the way and have hit a snag...the idle control lever (I think that's what it's called) is fitted to the throttle shaft with a pin that I couldn't for the life of me remove. I tried W240 and then a blowtorch but it was jammed in there tight. Since I knew I was going to be replacing the throttle shafts anyway, I put it in the vice and tried to really give it a good hammer strike with a thin punch tool but what I managed to do is miss and snap the lever in half. Trying now to find a replacement, most of the schematics I see online look more like SU HS as the intake manifold has the four bolt style, so not sure which part this actually is and what it's called.

I'm including a picture, you can see where it broke and I was thinking that maybe I could solder it back together but would rather have a good solid piece. If you happen to have one of these laying around I will gladly buy you a burger on Wednesday for the lever today :-)

Figures B.12 and B.14 of the WSM show the orientation of the fast idle lever. Have you considered the idea that the pin may be tapered and wants to be driven out in the other direction? Bud

I think this is it- hold cursor over the Abingdon spares carb diagram (the 1-1/2" diagram- the part in question is the same for all TDs), 09 092a Throttle Stop, Front TD
$5.95. I destroyed my rear one some years ago in a similar fashion. Never could get the tapered roll pin out (Bud is correct) and broke the lever. George

They can be repaired, but not with soft solder. Use moderate heat, and some silver solder. The 54% silver variety flows extremely well and will fill the crack. However, you may need to re-drill the shaft hole as silver solder may creep into the opening. Use some silver solder flux to prevent the brass from oxidizing before you apply heat.

Oh, if you need to replace the lever, the SU part number is AUC3437. Burlen Fuel Services in the UK or Joe Curto may be able to help. Google either for their web sites.

Thanks all, I can't find the part at Burlen or Cuerto or Moss so am going to try JB Weld and see what happens.

Try to reinforce the joint by drilling both sides and taping one side and inserting some Allen screws into the face of the joint before the epoxy.

You appear to have small face and there is not much area for the joint.

Jim, I bought one just like the one you broke from Abingdon last year. See George's recommendation above if you missed it.
