MG TD TF 1500 - hose dressing?
As start to assemble the plumbing for the TD the thought occurred to me that some hose dressing would allow easier future dis-assembly. If so, what to use? Thanks, Tom

Anti-freeze,nothing else.

Nothing petroleum. I disagree with mr fanelli. I have used a fuel resistant, high temp., Silicon grease for a couple of decades with complete success. regards, tom

Silicon grease is ok for a TD, not a TF, nothing but antifreeze should be used on any pressurized cooling system hoses. I would still use antifreeze only on any cooling system hoses, as per all OEM recommendations.

About 50 years ago we used to use Dow Corning's silicon release agent on the rubber O ring seals in aircraft pressurised oxygen cylinders. (Reason being oxygen under pressure + grease = BANG!). If it was good enough for pilots to inhale molecules of the stuff with their oxygen at altitude can't see why it wouldn't work on TD hoses. I plan to use it on my final reassembly Tom. By the way Len the cam has just arrived! Cheers Peter TD 5801

Hah! I dose all of my rubber coolant hoses with Armorall before, during and after :-)

I use the tyre soap that tyre fitters use. There's always a bucket of the stuff beside all tyre mounting machines. A friendly fitter filled a jar for me free of charge (very important for a Dutchman!)

I wet a cake of toilet soap and rub it around the plumbing prior to pushing the hoses on. Helps on assembly little effect on ease of dis assembly.
