MG TD TF 1500 - Ignition key
Gents, I am back to working on my car again. I am trying to complete my cluster panel and went to clean up the ignition switch. I really thought I had the key to the car on my fathers key ring but no luck. I was reading the archives but since I left my glasses at work If I squint any tighter my eyes will be closed. Am I able to have a key made at a local locksmith? The ignition face says FA 596. Rob

Yes. TD? TF? Moss or Abingdon should be able to send you a cut key that fits.

Try Triple-C Motor Accessories: http://www.triple-c.com/MG_Replacement_Car_Keys.cfm . They sell blanks for $3.95 or cut to code for $9.95. Moss sells blanks only. Joe

I had mine cut by Triple C based on the ignition lock number. It fits perfectly and they had a nice gold one with the MG logo and an octagon head.

Have one from Mr. Groh on the way already. Thank you again everyone.

Sometimes if you can find a locksmith that's been in business for a long time, he might have some blanks for your switch. That's what I did and lucked out. He found a couple blanks in a pile of old blanks. He then cut them for me and only charged me a couple bucks. Nice guy! PJ
