MG TD TF 1500 - Inside Sheet Metal
How in the world could this panel get so banged up? I know it's covered with upholstery, but in my imagination, someone would have to work at it pretty hard to make it look this beat up! Have the rest of you guys run into stuff like this before? PJ Also, What is it you put on nails to lock them in place? ![]() |

Dunno about nails but we used to use Locktite on small screws & nuts. Either that or pinch the wife's nail polish! Just pick a colour she doesn't like. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Thanks Peter, Now that I think about it, I think it was nail polish that locked the nails in place in a previous hole. PJ |

In normal construction nails going into timber rely on friction to hold them. I used nails with serrations on them for a bit of extra grip to hold the panels on to the timber frame. You can buy these nails in steel or bronze. |

Max, were the original nails Bronze? PJ |

Paul, My original nails were steel and not serrated. They were about 7/8 of an inch long. The only problem with serrated is that they tend to "rasp" out the hole if you need to remove them. |
