MG TD TF 1500 - Installing Sway Bar Bushings

Decided to install new bushings in the 9/16" sway bar that I acquired (thanks again, Rich). Is this a standard squeeze one out and squeeze one in using a vice and a few appropriately sized sockets? Is heat generally needed? Any suggestions will be gladly accepted. Scoured the archive and couldn't find info on this. TIA. Bud

Check out our recent video of this on T-talk Bud! We used the vise, sockets, and BFH. No heat was used.

Your new bar came with steel sleeved bushings alreay installed ED.

No heat to remove, just the Big Daddy vice and some sockets. If replacing with urethane...put them in boiling water for about 5 minutes and install quickly. A little silicone grease on the bar helps as well. No way could I get them in cold.

Thanks for the help, LaVerne. I'll give it a try. Ed,I think the bushings changed in the video are those in the A-arms. Bud

Don't send a boy to do a man's job. I'd been meaning to buy a better bench vice for quite a while. Bud

Looks like it's only good for a small boat :-) Jud
