MG TD TF 1500 - installing TF dash
My TF came with an after-market wood dash in very poor condition, attached with homemade brackets (plumber's pipe hanger). I bought a used original dash from Len Bonnay and had it repaired/painted, but how was it originally attached? Any brackets? Where are the attachment points? What was the hardware used? Anyone have photos? thanks, Tyler |

Tyler, Look at the photo below where I marked the number 2 and you can see the hole where a bolt went through the vinyl. Same on the other side obviously. A third bolt is attached on the top. ![]() |

Be sure to install your windscreen before you install the kick panels and then you can install the dash. And then the steering column...

There should be a centre bracket attached to the dash, the fire wall has a hole to which this bracket is attached with a suitable nut and bolt. Its a stand on your head exercise to install the bolt. A word of advice dont install your turn indicator switch until you install the bolts that Frank identified in his post. You should also possess a H shaped frame that is installed under the dash to support the under dash shroud. I fabricated my own from 1 inch aluminium angle, shrouds are available from a supplier here in Aus if you cant source elsewhere. Advise if you require assistance. Graeme |

Thanks everyone, As usual, this BB is a great help, especially when it comes to giving hints to precedural reassembly. How many times have I assembled parts A, B, C, and D to find out E won't go on because part A is not quite right, and I have to disassemble D, C, and B to correct part A. thanks, Tyler |
