MG TD TF 1500 - Is is cold where you are?

Try this on your closest frozen lake.

Chris Couper

It's pretty cold here. I had to put a light coat on while driving with the top down in the middle of the night last week.

Ok, that wasn't nice. ;)
Steve S

Yeah. But when everyone else has something to drink next year ...
Chris Couper

Quite true. I'm going to get my shovel and start digging a well. Should find water about the time I surface in China.
Steve S

All that's between me and today's battle with the pedal box. Bud

It's not so much the cold that keeps us off the road around here, it's the CRAP the state puts on the roads. Marvin,ct

According to one of our members this was taken during St. Paul Winter Carnival in the early 50's
Tom Maine

It's oh so cold here. I think it is down to 68 from 75 yesterday here in San Diego.
Dan Gill

Come on up north. Temp in the 20's and 4-7 inches of new snow coming in on Thursday.
Tom Maine

Our autocross club puts on ice racing in the winter. Lots of ice this year. Think you can drive to Canada over the great lakes
Bruce Cunha

Canada doesn't use the old system. We converted to the metric system many years ago.

But here in Rockburn, immediately beside the NY state border, we came within .6°C of the point where Fahrenheit and Celcius scales cross over.

All my MGs are properly mothballed, but I had to add individual 100W lights under each radiator ~ strictly precautionary.

I once worked in Edmonton in the winter. During the first day briefing they told us that the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales crossed at -41 degrees. I asked if that was important to known and they said yes in Edmonton during the winter :-)
Chris Couper

Not so much.

Geoffrey M Baker

Well it's been a snowy winter up here in Maine

Had to dig out the front and back path before the next storm arrives on Friday.

Reminds me of ice racing in the Pocono's in PA.
No studs,no snow or winter tires, great racing when there was snow on the ice.
This was what race car drivers in the area did in the off season.
Dad was in a photo advert in a Road & Track magazine for MG with a MG 1100, he purchased the car for $ 785.00 new distributor cost, from Inskip, with the understanding that was his payment as a pro race car driver.
I remember being in the car on the way to the lake, when Dad was passing another car on a exit ramp, 6" of snow completely sideways @ 50 MPH! He thought nothing about it!

Now we're in a few days of thawing. Ha! Ha! See that snowbank in the image up above? Well, now it's decided to melt it's way into the garage. Spent a big chunk of the day chopping/shoveling an excavation through it for the melt to have another direction in which to go. Bud

While we here in Georgia do not enjoy Frozen Lakes, etc, we do have our cold problems.

I thought share a comment with you Northern folks.

Like Steve, not very cold (although I had to wear a sweatshirt last time I took 581 for a spin. I figure with 400 bottles of wine in the cellar I am good to survive the drought, although I am not sure how pancakes made with pinot noir will taste :)

Rod, what part of Maine? That picture looks like the front yard of the house I lived in in Charleston in the '70s. If I can find the old photo I'll post it.

We are 10 miles north of Lewiston in a cold valley :)
It looks like this in the summer.
Wife has been nagging me about moving South to Carolina but we won' get back the money we have put into this house and I am reluctant to walk away from it.

Another 8.5 inches of nice heavy wet snow here yesterday and took all morning to get it piled up where I can get out of driveway.. Love Minnesota...
Tom Maine

That's a beauty and I really loved Maine - hiking up Katahdin, skiing at Squaw in Millinocket, hiking the woods - but twelve months of driving weather and very little shoveling snow have a lot going for them - and I'm much closer to the other end of the Appalachian Trail.

I wont post images of the Aussie sunshine we dont need an influx of LH drive MGs and their owners into the country.

You guys have been getting it rough recently if its not floods, fires, cold or someone running riot with a gun you arent living.

Keep warm.

Will this winter ever end?

Over here, we're wondering if it will ever start!
