MG TD TF 1500 - Judson blower on ebay
Hi all I sure wish I had the scratch for this, but I spent it all on body and paint this year! There is a rebuilt Judson MG-26 supercharger on ebay. Surprisingly no one has bid. Might be the way the seller has it listed. Looks like it has been set up for a Ford flathead. I'd like to see it on a T series. Number 251404815820 Tom '54 TF |

I wonder if the designation of "26" might indicate it is sized for 2600cc's? |

MG 26 is the correct model for the TD. This is the same as the one I sold on eBay last winter. Of course the manifolds are different but the supercharger is the same. I put mine on with a buy it now price of $3,850 and it sold the next day.

Mort, I remember yours. This one appears to be a good deal. I hope someone snatches it up. Tom |

What is that piece that was added on to the side? My 26 that I sold had nothing like that on it. |
Tom Maine |
There appears to be two custom manifolds. One to the engine and one to the carb. |

Looks like the intake and exhaust manifolds are bolt-off changes, and that it could fairly easily be returned to a T-type blower again. As I see it, one would need a Judson/SU intake, a 1-1/2" SU with a straight float bowl, carb linkage, a Marvel Inverse Oiler and hoses- perhaps $600. Since it is already rebuilt I'm sure the necessary bits could be supplied by George Folchi, but at what cost? Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Tom, Although it doesn't show a picture the Sellers says that it comes with the oiler and it is in good shape. Mort |

I contacted seller and he will post pics of the oiler and other parts in a day or two. Anyone out there have a Judson in their TF? Tom '54 TF |
T Norby |
Tom, "Anyone out there have a Judson in their TF?" Nope ...but I have a car you can put one on if your offering! LOL |
David Sheward |
To fit a TF, the right hood panel has to have a cut in it to allow the pulley to be free. the cut is inside and does not show when the hood is secured.. Hood being bonnet for those of us in Loma Linda... I have only seen one TF with a Judson, tight fit as are all things TF.. |
Tom Maine |
To install a Judson on a TF you will have to cut out part of the lip on the right front side panel; the Judson nose and pulley will not fit otherwise. I used to have a spare right side panel with the cutout, painted just like the rest of the car, and I would take the panel off and on with the blower. A Judson can be completely refurbished and rebuilt by George Folchi, but the truth of it is that you still have a heavy iron supercharger made of 60-year-old materials, both clattery and not the most efficient design. When brand new, Judson suggested a 40% increase in HP, which was probably somewhat exaggerated. For $4295 (hundreds of dollars less than the Moss blower) delivered to your door you can have a much better, new, guaranteed, efficient and attractive blower with a completely remanufactured Joe Curto carb, providing nearly 45% more HP at the wheels. I know a number of people who have fit Judson's to their cars over the years, and eventually sold them as not worth the effort. EVERYONE who has installed one of my MGT Repair blowers is thrilled. And finally, unlike any other blower now on the market, my blower fits the TD AND TF without cutting or permanently modifying anything. Other than the normal installation, the biggest job is removing the right front bonnet latch mechanism, leaving the external button and appearance in place. I can't say that installing ANY blower into a TF is easy, but the process is made much easier by removing the right fender and side panel. Please see my listing at mgtrepair.net for more information. I'm also happy to answer any questions. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Tom, I don't see any way that the supercharger can be installed on the TF without removing the side panel. Several years ago someone posted a photo of a TF side panel that had been modified (cut) to allow the removal without removing the fender. I'd like to see that again and up close. |

LaVerne Norm Jambard, a nemgtr member does the conversion to the TF side panels so they can be easily removed without un bolting them. He also owns the TF that was on the Herman Survivor boot poster back in the 1970s. I can get you his contact information. I am sure he would be more than happy to share there plans and instructions with you. -David ![]() |

I have decided that I am out on this, for my TF. I would not want to do the mods required to make it fit. The seller posted a pic of the marvel oiler. Still no bids on a $2k starting offer. Auction ends tomorrow. Seems to be to be quite a good deal, potentially, on a refurbished Judson. Just saying..... Tom '54 TF |

I would completely trust a Judson re-done by George Folchi, but not necessarily by "a machinist" in PA. Admittedly, Judson's are less finicky than Shorrock's, for instance, but they still need to be set up correctly. My new blower will fit a TF without any cutting por hard modifications. Interesting.... Now today there is a Marshall/Nordec blower on there. On the first day it has 8 bids. What are the groups thoughs on old Marshall superchargers? Tom '54 TF |
T Norby |
Browsing through the archives should display many of the group's thoughts, most all very positive. I just bid $2,222.22 and reserve is still not met. My wife might smack me if she knew I bid on another one, for HER toys. The last disassembled package just sold for $5,500 on ebay. I wonder what our complete, running Marshall-Nordec would fetch? Interesting that it has a double sheave pulley on the blower, and a double sheave to bolt onto the crank pulley. That's the first time I've seen that Nordec plate. The carb is probably 1 1/4" instead of 1 1/2", not that it matters. Looks to be freshly sandblasted. Hope it was thoroughly sealed up! |

Marshall's are very good, if old, blowers - modern blowers generally copy that Roots-style figure-8 impeller design because it is so good. With the Roots-satyle blower (Eaton, today), the impellers never touch, which is a good thing. The seller knows what the last Marshall sold for, so I suspect his reserve is in that $5,000 ballpark. Of course, a NEW Eaton-style blower from me is $4295, complete, guaranteed and delivered... Tom Lange MGT Repair |

For those following this thread, the Judson - with oiler - sold for $1650, with one bid only. If rebuilt as the seller says, a good buy for someone, even needing an intake manifold, crank pulley and carb. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

"For those following this thread..." the 2nd Marshall setup this week sold for $5,500. |
