Hi Jan, sorry about the poor drawing,I am an engineer but lousy at tech drawing. The two brackets are spot welded to the casing and fasten to the dash support bars.(now I look at my drawing I realise that the angle iron vertical does not protrude beyond the case)the heater fits up from underneath for removal. When you fit the wiring loom, make sure you leave clearance for the heater (very neat). I also blanked the side vents and replaced the motor and fan with a computer cooling fan.If you run main beam, windscreen wipers and heater you WILL run out of electricity,so if it rains you are going nowhere. I can't get a photo as the under dash shield is fitted. If you really need a photo I will get one when I get back from Hols to Turkey in 3 weeks. Ray TF 2884 ![]() |

I'd like to see more on this heater installation. This is an idea I've had for my TF for some time but have not yet implemented it. If there's an already built heater it would be pleasant not to reinvent one. Alex |

Hi, The KL heater was sold in the 1950's/60's as heaters were a cost option only here. I have not seen one at a jumble for 30 years or so. It should be easy enough to make one,all it needs is a matrix that will fit above the dash support bars in a case with a computer cooling fan above to blow down into the cabin. These fans consume so little power they don't even register on the ammeter. Jan T, as yours is not fitted maybe you could post a pic. Ray |

Picture No 1 of the heater. My previous TD had a Smiths heater - round one with two opening doors. It was also fitted to Land Rovers and Morris Minors. The KL suits the updated TF interior much better. If anyone has a KL fitted can they please let me know, or preferabally see the fittings in the car. There is also a KL rehostat to adjust the speed. This is fitted to a small angle plate, painted in metalic sand. Does anyone know where this fit to the dash. I will post a photo of the rear of the heater separately. Jan ![]() |

Hi Jan, I see your KL has the brackets,it just bolts directly onto the dash panel support bars that run from the rear of the toolbox to the dash inside the car. On mine there were captive nuts already in place. The fan originally blew up through mesh and out the side vents and the unnecessary/unused demist tube.I wired mine to blow downwards. I think these were dealer fitted and the rheostat put wherever they wanted.Mine was alongside the heater sticking down through the undertray (actually fastened to it.As it is an extra it could go anywhere in easy reach. With the hood (top) up and the heater supply from the tapping alongside the thermo bulb and returning to the rad outlet you will roast (assuming no draughts {drafts} ) Ray |
