Considering what I see and don’t see in the pics it was probably a fair price. Though the seller wasnt likely happy about it. Surprised because MGs tend to do pretty well on BAT. I’ll never out any of my cars up for auction. I’m not willing to take a big hit.

Bill: Its the No Reserve that will kill you. Put a reserve on it that you feel it should never go below and you are OK. But of course you may get an awakening that you were not expecting.

And FWIW I think that was a fair price for the car.

I generally watch the TC auctions, and they don't do well on BAT. Seems like a private sale is always a better idea. It's hard to sell the experience of the car online, and the experience is the main reason to buy one.

I whole heartedly agree Steve.

Hemmings auctions used to do a good job promoting nice cars. Note that this one would never be included, but vary nice to concours cars, especially ones with a providence did well.

When you live in a big population area word of mouth or some sort of advertisement/posting can get you a lot of attention. In rural areas you have little exposure hence why BaT seems to be popular.

Maybe the perfect idea is post on BaT with a super high reserve, make yourself known so people can contact you outside of the auction, and then you can do the "experience" thing.
Christopher Couper

That wouldn't be a bad plan and I feel like people do that sometimes, but BAT has become very strict about no reserve or low reserve auctions. They usually won't take a car if it has a reserve set at a fair selling price. If it doesn't sell, they don't get paid.
Steve Simmons

That one went for a song. $8,800. Except for the non-standard black interior, almost perfectly original. Clean as a whistle, too.
