MG TD TF 1500 - Let the tinkering continue

A member of my car club will soon be leaving for a trip cross country and back in his 94 Morgan +8. He was wondering how to keep some personal items secure as he made stops along the way for meals and to visit various national parks. Since I am often in a similar situation I gave it some thought. Both of our cars have a luggage racks.
I thought of a simple way to secure a trunk or suitcase to the luggage rack. I modified some 3/8" clothesline hooks and insert them through a hole in the luggage and secure them to the rack with flat and lock washers and wing nuts. As you can see the luggage is lockable. Items placed in the luggage are secure at the luggage itself is removable with the four wing nuts.

PS; I will attach five photos in separate posts rather than make a composite.

Mort, you are a genius!

In all my travels in my TC, no one has ever taken anything from the car, probably because they don't realize there is anything under the rear tonneau other than the convertible top.

Wait.... head rests and a rear wind screen?

Yeowza.

(BTW, nice trunk!)

Kevin,
I also have air conditioning.

I've got headrests too (with built in speakers)!
Nice work, Mort!

Cool!
;)

Geoffrey,
Can you share your plans for the head rest with the speakers?.
Do you have some photos of the rear view?
You could do it here or to my email.
Thanks,
Mort

Thank you Geoffrey,
You answered all of my speaker questions.
However, it does lead me to the next question. Can you tell me the story and details behind your roll bars?
Thanks,
Mort

Mort, also in archives. I'm quite proud of them, I think they are the only serious rollbars done on a TD outside of the race arena, tremendously strong, and fully removeable. They also don't interfere with the convertible top.
