MG TD TF 1500 - Lucas Ignition Switch - Restore Lettering
I've got my ignition switch apart for cleaning, and I'm wondering what to do about the fascia plate. Most of the black paint and "OFF / S /H " has flaked off. Does anyone know how to restore the black paint and lettering? Thanks, Jim |

Apart from sending the switch plate out for restoration, there are stickers sold by vendors...I think FTFU and Abdindon Spares which do a nice, but not concours job. If you have a driver and don't want to go to a national show, they are fine IMHO. Brian W. |

Craig Seabrook at The Whitworth Shop does perfect work, on switches, central panel - including TC lettering - dashboards, etc. Tom lange MGT Repair |

From the Frame Up it is. I've already got it apart, so I don't want to send out. I'll try the decal. My first time at FTFU; I was impressed by the bits and pieces available. Thanks for the help. Jim |

Who is FTFU? Sorry but I've never heard of them. PJ |

FTFU From The Frame Up. Doug Pelton. Specializes in hard to find TC parts, but the ever expanding catalogue includes a lot of TD and TF parts. They have a lot of high quality, hard to find parts. They are in Arizona. David |

Stickers are a very temporary, and ultimately unsatisfactory solution, IMHO. Craig Seabrook cleans and re-paints everything, and then silk-screens on the proper lettering. I suspect this is one of those things where you get what you pay for. A $7 sticker is probably just about as good as the stickers you paste over the early, flat speedometer faces - great until they start to come off. Then they look awful... Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Tom: I have used the stickers and never had a problem for my drivers...not show cars. I know Craig Seabrook well for over 20 years, and they / he do/ does indeed do fine, concours work. Just depends on what you want and your budget. Brian W. |

You are welcome to have a copy of my graphics. I have the original in a higher resolution. Regards Declan ![]() |

I was going to send the unit out, then decided to take on the challenge. I think a bit of wear looks fine, but it just got to be too much. Declan, I would very much appreciate a copy of your graphics for future use. I'm at jb_oahu@yahoo.com . Thanks, Jim |
