MG TD TF 1500 - Lucas trouble lamp - knob missing
| If anyone has the same model as my Lucas trouble lamp (see picture below) I would greatly appreciate any help in figuring out what the missing knob looks like. Measurements, pictures much appreciated. In fact, if some kind soul was willing to ship me their knob (these detach with one screw) for me to use to take a mold of it, I would greatly appreciate it! And I will pay postage both ways... (The knob goes on the end of the rotating handle.) Thanks

| Larry, your package arrived, thanks! :) No trouble removing it from the handle. It's identical to mine, which is great. In looking at it, I'm thinking what I might do is to cut a piece of tool steel to the same profile, then I can just cut copies on my microlathe. Now I just need to find a plastic rod, black, 9/16 diameter, preferably bakelite... time to get on ebay... If anybody needs a knob, this is a good time to say so, I would rather make a few now than try to find the cutting piece to make more later... No cost, just shipping... |

| Here is my replica knob, turned on a lathe this morning. It's the one on the lamp, and is a bit duller than the original. I'll see if it polishes up! Thanks, Larry, for the original and I'll get it in the mail to you pronto!

| Larry, for now I'm happy with what I made but at some point when I get some more time I want to find a better plastic with a nicer finish. When I do that, you'll get one - free. |

| There's a product called Acetal which I used to have some handbrake rod bushes turned which may be suitable Geoff. It's available in rod form. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |
