MG TD TF 1500 - Magnetic drain plugs available

I've got a supply of rare-earth magnet drain plugs for the engine, transmission and differential of TC, TD and TF cars. These are great insurance against loose bits causing problems, install just like the regular drain plugs, and come complete with new copper gaskets. The diff drain plug is a taper fit.

These magnetic drain plugs are terrific; I have one in every one of my cars (and those on which I work), and it is always amazing to see the bits and gunk they accumulate, even when using a spin-off filter. This is sort of a trial run for me, to see if there is enough interest. I'll post pictures on my webpage in a day or so: mgtrepair.net

Engine drain plugs are $25,
transmission plugs are $28,
differential drain plugs are $25
or, all three for $75
all prices include postage.

Please let me know off-line if you are interested.

Is your email good to use for paypal? It'd make purchasing a snap.

While you're at it, throw a supercharger in the box too.

Yes, same e-mail. I think you will be pleased.

Do they look stock? Are they made from brass as original? (other than diff of course)
Steve Simmons

Yes, on all counts.

I'll post a photo later tonight, once I re-size the image. Those damn magnets kept moving the plugs around; they are that strong!

Tom -- I'll take one engine drain plug. I prefer to pay by check and will mail off to you and then after receiving, you can mail the plug.

Contact me at email above and I'll send my address through that email and you can send me yours as well.

Thanks, John

Great idea Tom,

EVERY car should have them fitted! As well as helping remove fine metallic particles from the oil, they can help let you know when something is wrong. Without a magnet the evidence just glugs out into the drain tray.

I found an oil pump tooth on the magnet in my race car in about 1978. The circlip in the oil pump shaft had come off and an occasional knock from the conrod was keeping the shaft in place! No other symptoms due to the open exhaust noise. Removal of the sump revealed a conrod which would have soon broken (probably during a race, at 6500 RPM) and destroyed the engine. I was pleased I only had to replace the conrod and pump. That engine went on racing for about another 17 years!

About four years ago I found the timing chain link clip (cracked) on the magnet. Luckily, the rest of the link was still in place and a new clip could be fitted before it let me down in a race. I remember buying the chain and being surprised that it was so cheap. Now I make sure I pay three times as much and get a good quality chain!

The strength of rare earth magnets would be even better than what I have been using. I would highly recommend them.

Hi Tom,

Count me in for all three. You'll have a $75.00 PayPal in a few minutes.

Thanks,

I have just ordered one of Tom's drain plugs, adding to the list of many items purchased from the MGT Repair inventory over the past couple of years. I have found it a pleasure to do business with Tom and the quality of the parts supplied is second to none. My TD has clocked up 7,000 miles with one of Tom's superchargers, an upgrade I would recommend without hesitation.

Ordered all three of Tom's drain plugs and they arrived in three days from across the country! Beautiful workmanship and installed them today. Best $75.00 I'll ever spend on my TF.

You guys should get your orders in before they're gone.

Thanks Tom for all you do for the faithful T owners.

I've had on in my sump for 12 years. I first installed it following my 2003 rebuild.

I was floored when I saw what was on the magnet when I changed the oil at 500 miles.

A good and inexpensive investment.

I again have a good supply of magnetic drain plugs in hand for engine, transmission and differential. My apologies to those who ordered when I was sold out. Engine and differential are $25 each, transmission is $28, or $75 for all three, postpaid within the US. Overseas shipping at cost.
