MG TD TF 1500 - Marshall Supercharger on eBay

Someone is going to get an expensive lesson in Marshall superchargers.

It has the idler pulley arm and the manifolds; but on the other hand, iis missing the carb and linkage, the sight-glass oiler (the latter hard to find), and the crank pulley. I suspect that one of my pulleys would work just fine.

My the big concern is that the blower is locked up, probably due to corrosion. It's obviously going to need all new bearings and seals, but if it's that bad, I would be very concerned about the condition of the housing. Aluminum pits and corrodes easily, and I would suspect there would be some voids in the housing.

The last complete one I had, in good working shape, sold for $5,000. But for a blower where clearances are so critical that the wrong thickness of the paper gaskets will lock up the blower on rebuild, this will be a real project.

That and the Judson that recently sold for $2800 a few days ago make me cringe. The Judson was in pieces and heavily rusted in the case. Both would definitely be very loose after any work done and the boost would likely be very poor.

Well, this blower - incomplete and locked up tight with a lot of visible corrosion, needing a complete overhaul - sold for a total of $3854. I suppose that sets the value of a working, complete system at nearly $6,000!

Makes my new, complete supercharger, at $4295, look like a bargain! See mgtrepair.net for more information.

I've got a brand new (NOS) Judson supercharger for a Sprite (BMC A-series) motor, in its Judson "Another Package of Power" box, sitting in my parts stores, complete with its original Marvel Mystery Oiler, Holley carb and Judson-marked fan belt, along with a a full servicing kit (vanes, bearings, gaskets & seals).

I wonder what that's worth?

I really think it depends on the car - a good used Mercedes 190SL Judson is worth $8,000; an XPAG or Volvo 122 unit is worth about $3500; an MGA or 40HP VW is worth about $2500; a Spridget blower is probably also $2500; an NOS one is probably $3,000 - even though it should still be gone through to be sure the bearings are OK, and to replace the seals.

Write George Folchi, who can surely set you a clear valuation for your blower. If it were an NOS XPAG Judson I would ask $5,000!

Tom, I have an Eaton m45 blower with all the bells and whistles . It is for a Miata 1.9 I would love to convert it to my TD, but do not have the fabricating skills to make it work, are you at all interested in it. Brand new never been on the car, complete setup asking 1200 or best offer

Tom M - Thanks so much, but I'm deep into my own superchargers, and have no spare $.

Crazy money for something that is likely junk. I'd rather buy a no maintenance Eaton and save my money

The Marshall is an Eaton (licensed Marshal-Nordec).

A touch of corrosion in the housing and on the edges & ends of the rotors is virtually inconsequential (especially for our cars) as these components have clearance and don't touch. I've never seen 6 psi on our Marshall, but the Moss Magnacharger, new, hadn't hit that mark, either. (Yes, the right cam will up boost). They're simply wonderful at 5 psi. To me, they're worth the money just to look at.

I, too, have replaced perfectly good bearings just to say "it has new bearings." The original leather seals are superior to the conventional oil seals and could likely be renewed with a treatment with neatsfoot oil.

If it was purchased for resale, that price gouged out a good chunk of the profit. I gave about 1/3 of that for an equivalent package about a decade ago. If the new owner wants it for himself, he's probably be very happy with his bona fide vintage Marshall blower. Glad to see it's getting new life.

I've thought about adding the drip oil feed & drain to our Magnacharger as I've always had to add oil every few months.
