MG TD TF 1500 - Measurements of axel rebound straps

Does anyone have the measurements of td rear axel rebound straps , mine are both missing but they look quite easy to make..thanks.
Gss Smith

Can't get you a measurement at the moment (back problems). Be very careful jacking up the rear without the straps. It is possible that the hanging axle will pull the shackles in line with the spring. When you lower the car down ,the shackles can overcentre, flip up and do a load of damage to the rear wings.
To fit the straps, jack up the axle watching that the shackles rotate backward.I have had to persuade them with a small crowbar on a TD.
If you look at fig I1 in the WSM you will see what I mean.
Also make sure that the brake line will not get trapped at any point of the travel.

I should have said downwards and backwards. On RHD cars clockwise on drivers side anticlock on passenger side.

If you chose to buy them, you would get the small rubber pads on the bottom. Otherwise, they are just bent metal. You do need the large rebound rubber for the top, tho.

Thanks Ray , I'll be weary of that and the brake pipes that could be easely overlooked. Thanks again..

The strap is 1.5" wide and 27" in total length.

4.5" in on each end is a 90 degree bend. These overlap at the top

There is 18 inches of strap from frame to frame. It is 3.75" wide just above the axle.

As Bruce says...18" on the run between the bends.
2 1/4" after each bend. The bend is not 90 degrees and the " loop down" is not symetrical. It would be best to have the rubber rebound piece on hand to form both the bend and position for drilling the holes.

Thanks Len,
I am always wary of correcting spelling because of the differences in American English and British English. I did not say English English because of the Scots, Welsh and Irish over here ;-}
