MG TD TF 1500 - MG TD Oil Filter Change

Since I've only had the car a year and put <1000 miles on it I haven't yet changed the oil filter, but I have a low oil pressure problem so wanted to try that first. Problem is since I've never changed the filter I'm not quite sure how to go about it. I tried finding instructions online and YouTube but there wasn't anything, leading me to believe it's so simple that no one bothered making any instructions available! I certainly don't want to dismantle more than needed so looking for either some instructions, pic, or video.

Question: If the new filter doesn't help I've read articles about replacing relief valve ball bearing. For a beginner/new owner of an MGTD is this something I can do myself or is compplicated enough to find a mechanic? I did rebuild my carbs myself and that worked fine so I'm not totally mechanically challenged, but I would leave the very detailed stuff to someone with the right tools and experience.

Thanks,

You didn't mention if your filter is an eary verticle type or a horizontal type

I'm on a cell phone so i can't really post pics easily, but I did a search for images of "mg-td oil filter types", and came up with directions for both types of filters

Steve,
I must clarify,, that was a GOOGLE SEARCH,, not a search in this site..

SD, I have the same oil filter. I simply remove the nut and washer from the bottom of the canister, remove the canister's lower half and the filter. When everything is back together I remove the oil pipe from the top of the filter (loosen the pipe on top of the oil pump and swing the pipe off of the filter). I then fill the oil filter canister before starting the engine.

John Twist's video is very informative about XPAG oil pumps.
