MG TD TF 1500 - MG TF fender skirts?
| I was hoping someone could tell me if these skirts look familiar? They look similar to the rear fender opening on the '54 TF Roadster but I wouldn't know without measurements. If you have any idea what they might fit, I would appreciate your help They measure approx. 41 1/2" tip to tip and 9 1/2" deep at center Thanks in advance! Karen

Hi Karen I'm surprised no one has jumped in on this topic. I have a TF and have looked at many many photos of TF's in books and on websites. I have NEVER seen skirts on one. It is hard to imagine how they might look. Could they be for another car? Jaguar. Triumph. Tom '54 TF

Thanks, Tom. No, I haven't seen any with them either. Just a guess based on their shape. I appreciate the answer, I'll continue looking :-)

Though I've never seen skirts on an MG, they were very popular back in the 50s and 60s on American cars. A lot of cars had them as an option when new. I had them on some of my cars. The aftermarket surface type, which clamped to the outer surface of the fender lip would eventually mark the paint, not a desirable feature on our cars today, but back then us kids didn't care, they looked pretty cool and the girls liked them!! Possibly a Jag. PJ

And a 48 Chrysler? Skirts are on a Buick.

I'm thinking red car is either a Jaguar XK120 or XK140 as the fender line seems to dip down at the door. On an XK150 the fender line stays more level as shown on PJ's 2nd photo.

John, that was my thought. I'm not good enough to tell the 120 from the 140 without looking at the badge. Thanks all. Jud

It seems to have a v-windscreen, which makes it either an X120 or a XK140. Tom Lange MGT Repair

I would say XK120, the side lights are separate bolt on units. The 140 & 150 had the housings as part of the wings. Ray TF 2884

Ray, good call, missed that detail.
