MG TD TF 1500 - MG TF Sidecurtain box

I'm resurrecting this old thread as I need whatever anyone can provide as far as measurements. I have nothing at all to start with, so any help would sure be appreciated.

I have the dimensions for the front of the box. I do not have the side pieces. This was sent to me. from another member.

Rick

Thanks...that's more than I had..I was not aware the box is metal. Has anyone made it from just using a wood frame?
R.M. gardner

Are the TF and TD side curtain boxes the same? If so I have mine out of the car and could supply the external dimensions. Cheers

Totally different.

I had a local shop make the front panel. I had the one side to copy and the back piece. The other three could be made of wood, but they are just like the top of the front piece, about an inch on the long side. the corners are cut to over lap. I do not have a picture of the joint. These should not be too hard for a shop to make. None of the suppliers have the pieces, but B & G does list them with a notify when available notation.
Rick

You might try Hugh Pite for the pieces.

Having just finished the resto of my TF, I found very little written about the TF curtain box. As this thread continues, with more specifics about dimensions of the box, perhaps Bud could post it on T Talk.

I will add from my own experience. I learned the hard way that the wooden lid is not a perfect rectangle. I found out after I turned it over to get a better wood surface. I did not test fit. Should have. I covered with vinyl and then had to remove the vinyl and move to the original topside. Fortunately it worked out.

To form the metal front, sides and back pieces correctly, a 3+foot sheet metal brake is needed. Just sayin. PJ

Rick. I have an original TF lid covered in the original red rexine. Yours free, just pay actual shipping. Thanks. Larry, in Georgia.
Larry Brown

Larry Brown, did you ship that TF lid to Rick? If not, I would like to get it from you.
Rich

My bad. I said Rick, I meant you. I do have the lid and will be glad to ship it to you. lvb at Windstream dot net. Thanks.
Larry Brown

Rich, haven't heard from you. You still want this? Thanks. Larry
Larry Brown

Larry

I do not need the lid.

Thanks for the offer
