MG TD TF 1500 - MGT Register
Tried pulling up the T register to get some info on a T series and all I get is a new site for the club. Anyone know how to just get the old site where the chassis number is entered and the cars manufacture date is given? I don't want to join a club in the UK just to get this info. PJ |

Just FYI. I have found that sometimes the engine numbers in The T Register are truncated. My engine number for TD12524 is listed in the T Register as XPAG/TD2/LHX1294 when in fact it is 12942. Tom Lange has been very gracious in providing correct engine numbers when asked. So if the T Register engine number is off for your car by the last number there is a good chance it was left off during the database development. Tim |

Thanks Rick, that's what I was looking for. PJ |

Rick, that web site says "chassis number not found" when I enter mine 8686, or any other number for that matter. |

Hi Entering TD8686 I get build 1951 colour green engine no. 9099 biscuit interior on the road in the USA LHD. Barry |

You need to enter TD8686 or TF8686 as appropriate. Both of those work. Peter |

Hi all
I thought I’d explain what is happening to the MGCC T Register website and to the Factory Records and known T Type records. The T Register has developed a new website which contains a lot more information than the old site and crucially is much easier to update and maintain. However the Factory and known T Types records are still maintained on the old site. But there is a menu link on the new site which takes you to the records kept on the old site. That menu also contains links to all the recent work the T Register has done on XPAG casting marks and casting dates. The attached picture picks out where this menu item is. The problem of the truncation of some TD engine numbers is known and was indeed caused by the original designers of the database not specifying enough characters for the field to contain them. That design fault has been rectified and we are now trawling through all the originals of the factory records to ensure the engine numbers are accurate. It’s a painstaking process. Once it is complete, the new records will be uploaded to the T Register website and I’ll write here again to let you know of their availability. Regards David ![]() |
