MG TD TF 1500 - Missing that throaty ROAR
Sometime in the past my TD's exhaust system had been replaced with a system with 2 mufflers. MGs are noted for their exhaust note, I'm not feeling it. Maybe 'roar' is optimistic. I am missing the crackle and POP. I'm leaning towards the stainless system from Moss (approx $280.00). I can make a system myself in stainless (I did my '34 'rod's dual) or I'd be happy with a steel system. Does anyone have anything to say about Moss's, another brand, DIY???? |

M, There's a bunch of stuff in the Archives,,, IMHO, get rid of the second muffler and see what it sounds like,, It could save you a lot of money,, Is your present system stainless??? Steve |

Steve, that's a thought. It's plain steel with a healthy patina. |

I had a 1954 TF-1250. I did not install it but it had a thick walled 1.5" copper exhaust pipe from muffler back. I never notices a snap-crackle popping sound but more like a bell ringing tone. I removed it and installed a standard pipe from Moss but within one week I returned to the copper pipe. 1.5 cents worth of nostalgia. Sandy |
