MG TD TF 1500 - Mojave heater
Hello, After the very supportive thread you generated (aprox. 100 responses) on my "lousy inefficient heater" question I am back, now mounting a Mojave heater in my TF, and at the same time restricting flow from the rad return pipe to the thermostat housing. The old Bosch heater will have to do as a mantlepieceor something. The Mojave would best be mounted with the coolant pipes connection to the RH side to avoid the driver kicking on them every time he uses the throttle. (LHD car!) It seems to me that the Mojave heater can be mounted either side up, as long as the water feed goes in on top and return out through the bottom pipe? (I am asking because the assembly instructions seem to imply floor mounting with pipes to the left as the correct option.) Any experience or opinion on this? Thank you, regards Jan |

I can't see any reason you couldn't mount it with the pipes on either side. It is a lot more functional than my Arnolt in the TF. You might want to move it higher behind the tool box though if your car is right hand drive, for two reasons. One, so it doesn't interfere with the gas pedal and two, so you cam remove the gearbox dipstick. I can't fully withdraw mine unless I remove the right hand bolt and swing it out of the way.

Thank you laVerne! I have a T9 gearbox so oil dipstick access is not an issue. I try to place it as close up front as possible. Hope it will warm me up on cold days! Regards, Jan |

Jan, This is my Mohave in a TD. I don't think it should matter which pipe is used for in or out. It is not a gravity feed. The water is circulated by the water pump. Good luck with the install. Mine has been working fine for 3 years now. Mort ![]() |

Jan, Please do give us before and after results. I'm very curious to know of your experience in switching from the vintage heater to the Mohave. Alex |

Alex, I'll be back with more info when the driving season begins, hopefully not more than four weeks from now. Just need to see that the snow - and salt - is gone. I hope my efforts have been worthwhile! Regards, Jan |
