MG TD TF 1500 - Moss TF Side Panels

If anyone needs side panels and you get them from Moss, your in for a surprise! I had to cut the tabs off one as they were stick welded instead of spot welded and had to cut the step on the bottom of the right one and re weld it in the proper position. Now after all is said and done, paint and all, I find out the holes for the bonnet locks are 3/16th of an inch too small! Fortunately I have the equipment to correct this, but you guys know what these panels cost and in plain English, it pisses me off that I or anyone should have to do this. Moss will get the message, even though it probably won't do any good! So if you need new ones, use caution on where you get them. Sorry for the rant, but I think it's warranted. PJ

Has anybody attempted to build there own?

I know your pain Paul after spending hours cleaning my rear dampers painting the arms and lacquering the allow body I noticed 1 was leaking. I sent the pair off to Moss to be reconditioned after 10 weeks I finally got them back working but sprayed black. I was furious. Like you I like the look of the brass and allow on the suspension. I couldn't believe someone didn't used a bit of cop on and leave the work I had done well alone. They are not in my good books...

I wonder if those dampers are even your own? Oft times they simply do them on an exchange basis - so your nice cleanup work may likely be going to some other owner in a few weeks!

I will know when I strip them Kevin. They assured me they were mine but we will see. I have a small mark on mine under all that paint.

Dan, To build your own you'd need a 4 foot sheet metal brake and shear, a louver punch and hole punch's of the proper size. A spot welder is needed to weld the strengthening plates where the latches mount and the top tabs. A good knowledge of sheet metal work is a necessity. Anything can be built, if you have the equipment to do it! PJ

Here's the wrong size holes I am speaking of. PJ
