MG TD TF 1500 - My nephews new ride

He showed up at yesterdays BBQ with his wife after a 12 mile drive. He's quite proud of his purchase.

Those are neat old cars. Looks like a nice one. Before I bought my TD, I came close to buying a 1926 Model T pickup roadster. Neat old truck, but couldn't get the program sold to my CFO.

The modle T is a fun car. The three pedals (first gear, reverse and the transmission brake) takes some getting used to.

Grandpop had an old T truck on the farm when I was a kid. It even had turn signals! You pulled a rope in the cab and a wooden arrow would swing out from the side of the cab. Modern technology back then! I guess pulling the rope repeatedly gave a blinking signal. LOL. PJ

When I was around 12 years old I first learned how to drive a stick shift on a Model T on my grandparents farm.

Stick? Are you sure it was a T and not an A? The only stick on the T is the parking brake, to the left of the seat. It is high gear when pushed all the way forward.

Hi Dave, it had a stick shift and a clutch. Could have been an A or a T. I don't know the difference. It was an old car "converted" to farm dump truck with a makeshift wood bed and side panels with lever to lock it in place. Used to haul firewood, manure, etc, etc...

All I know is I stalled it several times popping clutch to fast and then frustrating the hell out of him releasing the clutch too slowwww.....

Anyhow, the good news is I learned how to drive a standard.... the bad news is I worked more on the farm....
Frank Cronin

There were aftermarket conversions, plus I believe some of the commercial Model Ts had a stick and clutch arrangement.

My 1925 Model T pickup is a good workhorse. I've hauled hundreds of pounds with it, albeit rather slowly.
