MG TD TF 1500 - My TF

Almost road ready. Working on redoing the top bows and then put on new top. Side curtains, their not here yet!!! But using the TF mounting specs in the directions, 19 1/2 inches vertical above the rear section of the doors, it's going on the car when done.
Photo seems a little too bright, but you get the picture. PJ

Very, very nice Paul.

Well done Paul looks fabulous. I like the 2 tone it accentuates the great lines of the TF.
D Lamb

Thanks guys! Didn't think I'd ever reach this point. Still a ways to go with the top, but insurance goes on it tomorrow and tags probably Tuesday. PJ
Paul S Jennings

Congrats PJ! Just in time for summer.

We need more pictures of the car plus interior.
Frank Cronin

Looks beautiful, Paul- I agree with Dan, a great motivator!
I am still a bit behind you but hope to have my TF on the road later this month. I was just about to order a staple gun like the one you bought and was wondering if yours worked out well for the interior?
Congrats,
JKB

Had this pic in my collection trying to get an idea of colour for my car. Does it look familiar Paul. Not sure where it came from.

D Lamb

Wow! Congratulations!

JKB, The staple gun worked good in the hidem, but most of the rest was back to the old fashioned nails.
Daryl, You might have picked that photo up from me, as it was the inspiration to paint mine the color it is now and I posted it in a couple places. Sorry to say, I don't know the owner of that car.
I have to say that without all the help from everyone on this forum, the car would not be where it's at today.
I still need to pick your brains, especially on the top, as something appears wrong. I'll follow up on it in the other thread on top bows. PJ

Elegant!

1.tastefully fine or luxurious in dress, style, design.
2.gracefully refined and dignified.
3.graceful in form or movement.
4.appropriate to refined taste.
5.excellent; fine; superior.

You will find it difficult convincing people you did that in you Garage!

I don't know how you can WAIT for a Hood. Don't need no stink'n Hood! But I thought the same when you were working on the Seats. I would have been trying that out sitting on a Bucket!

Congrats Paul! Has to be a Great Feeling!

Well Mike, Most all work was done in my shop including installing the tub, but as the shop is not permanently heated and the garage is, it went in there over the winter to finish. Thanks for the comment, very much appreciated. PJ
Paul S Jennings

Very nice!

Paul,

Absolutely fabulous job...incredibly envious of the work.

Got the tags for it yesterday and have to take it to DMV for Vin Number verification, but before I do, the rear carb needs a little "tweaking". Was perfect before, but for some reason it's running a little rich at idle. The jet was in perfect alignment and the piston would drop with a click with the damper out, so I'm not sure if the jet went out of alignment for some reason or not, is this possible? Idled perfectly before I buttoned it all up and put the air cleaners on. Any ideas? PJ
Paul S Jennings

Pretty car PJ. Re your comment "so I'm not sure if the jet went out of alignment for some reason or not, is this possible?"

I was talking to a SU specialist a while back about centering the jets & it is certainly possible to knock the jet off centre. He told me in all seriousness that he often gives the body a tap or two to effect a minor jet adjustment. Cheers

Thanks Peter, I could have possibly bumped the base of the carb with a wrench while putting the air cleaner back on, so I'll pull it back off and re check the jet position. Thank goodness it's not the front carb! I've left enough DNA in that area off my hands. Grin. PJ

Paul, I love the look of your car! Its outstanding. Beautiful work and it shows in the results. Your success reinforces my motivation. Charlie

Ha, You'll never guess what the problem was running rough all of a sudden, IT WAS OUT OF GAS!!! I dipsticked the tank and it showed a little on the stick, but it was just enough for the pump to suck a tad of air! Oh well, maybe I should get a horse and wagon, then I only need to keep a bail of hay handy! I did find out the light works and turns off when gas is in it! LOL PJ
