MG TD TF 1500 - Need cluster gear!

Well I found what was making the clattering noise in second gear in my 54 TF. There were 3 teeth missing on the cluster gear. Does anyone have a spare cluster gear they would be willing to sell? Thanks and have a good day!

Long time no hear? Hugh Pite would be the first source I'd seek out John. I have a gearbox out in the shop and everything looks like new inside with the exception of the first motion shaft which has two broken teeth. If it comes that you don't find what your after let me know.

Still working?
MG LaVerne

WOW. Can we see a picture? I've never seen 3 teeth missing.... In one spot or in different places?

I am re-retired LaVerne at least for the moment. We are looking to relocate to the Grand Junction area in the future. How do I get in touch with Hugh Pite? I will give Quantum Mechanics a call today to see if he has any TF parts. If no joy I will get in touch with you. If we get to your area looking for a house I will let you know. Here is a picture of the damage. Thanks and have a good day!

And you're telling us that made noise? Man, you've got sensitive ears.

There are (were) a few on ebay for about $700.00.

John, I have several good used cluster gears for sale. Please send me an email message if you are still looking.

LaVerne - I have a 1st motion shaft (maybe new) for sale.
Cheers, Hugh

A Morris 10 cluster is identical except it has too many teeth on the drive gear (the front gear which meshes with the first motion shaft. You can machine off that gear and press-on/weld the drive gear from a TD, TF or Y cluster. It has to be done by someone who knows what they are doing. This was a useful tactic when Morris 10s were common in Australia but might not be feasible in the USA. Thought it was worth a mention.
