MG TD TF 1500 - New dynamo

Hi does anyone know where I can find a new dynamo for my 1954 mg tf as my auto electrician said the existing one is burnt out thanks Derek.

Your best bet is to join the Octagon MG Car club and buy from them. They only cater for pre 55 MGs.
I have a vested interest as I am a member, they normally beat on price and commission new parts themselves.
Do you know why it burned out?, when you get the new one check the operation of the voltage regulator to see if the cut out points are fused together.

I wonder why he doesn't suggest rebuilding it? There are only four parts - armature, field coils, front bearing, rear bushing. With these replaced / rebuilt, it's as good as new.

Getting harder to find shops to do that work at ANY price in my area. It seems every thing is throw away.

I took one to a shop that rebuilds electric motors, they said no problem rebuilding a generator/dynamo. Took a couple of days for them to get to it, but I got it back within a week. PJ

I've just sent my NOS generator to Jerry Felper. It quit charging. Connecting F to D and spinning it up produced only 5v indicating (according to the WSM) a fault in the windings. I'll let you know what Jerry says and how this goes. In the meantime I'm running on a Chinese repro and I'll also let you know how that works out after a few runs.
