MG TD TF 1500 - New Moss Wire Wheels

I had a bad experience with Moss wire wheels (WW) in the past (early 1990s) with rideout (both side and vertical play). They were of terrible quality (Dunlop from India).

Now (2018), the Moss WW still come from Dunlop in India, but Moss swears the quality problem was fixed some time ago.

If you have purchased and installed Moss WW in the last several years, would you please let me know what you think of them regarding quality of construction?

I appreciate any comments.
thanks,

I worked on a couple of TF's with them... 60 spoke jobs. Spun true and looked ok ...from the outside. Finish on the inside of the rim left something to be desired in my opinion. I'd still opt for the Daytons myself if I were buying new. If you can find them.

Moss wheels are supplied by MWS. They are a respected brand and one of the most popular. I haven't seen any issues with them in a long time.

I bought a set of 60 spoke chrome wheels for my TR3 from Rimmer Bros in UK. They are made by MWS in the UK, and are great. Rimmer Bros does not handle MG parts, but you might try MWS direct. If they have them, they will be a lot less than Moss.

I presume you have a TF, if so I just did some checking, and the TF takes the same wheel as a TR2.
Rimmer Bros are $40 a wheel cheaper than Moss. MWS does sell direct, but are just a bit higher. If you decide to check with Rimmer, ask them for a quote. I did this and they dropped there price by quite a bit over there listed price. Hope this helps.

I bought five painted 60 spoke wire wheels from Moss in 2011. Took them to Hendrix Wire Wheel in Greensboro, NC for truing and balancing. If I remember correctly, Allen Hendrix said it was the first (or one of the few maybe) sets of wire wheels that he had measured on his equipment that did not require any truing.

I have MWS wheels on my TF and am very happy with them. I got a better deal from SVC than direct from MWS. Even better to phone them or email and make a deal rather than go by the advertised price.
