MG TD TF 1500 - New Wheels
Just got word my new wheels are on their way. Chrome tubeless and funny thing is, they already have the valve stems in them. I'm having a problem finding someone close who can mount them. No one around here has the proper set up for spline center wire wheels for mounting and balancing. Think a motor cycle shop would work? I won't ship them! Wish I was close to Hendrix, they did the 72 wheels, but I was in SC at the time. PJ |

The new mounting machines that most shops have now will put the tires on with out problems. However most chain shops won't touch a wire wheel and your pretty much on your own with the balancing machine. |

Paul, Your best bet is find someone doing "20's" (and larger)type "bling" wheels. Like LaVerne said the big chain stores won't touch them. I found a "bling shop" and they were not only willing and able, but treated my wheels with respect. They broke mine down removed the bad tube I had, put it back together and were very careful not to leave a mark on my wheels. |

The newer dayton wire wheels don't need special cones to balance them as they machined the facings that connect with the standard balance machines... Dave |

Found out that my local tire shop can mount the tires as they have a new machine that grips the wheel with plastic clamps on the bottom, so no damage to the wheels. The pressure on the clamps is adjustable. I took an old wheel with a flat tire for them to repair as a test and they fixed and re mounted the tire and balanced it to zero! I'm not sure I want them to balance the new wheels though. ?? PJ |

Paul, I had my new Dayton tubeles wire wheels balanced. No problem. They used stick on weights |
