MG TD TF 1500 - No spark
Hello, My TF was not running well. The plugs looked awful. Decided to do plugs, wires, new cap, rotor, points and condenser. Put it all together and I now have no spark. Any ideas on what I put together wrong?

Most likely have the wiring from the coil or condensor on the wrong side of the points insulator

Is this correct?

Here is my spare plate. In your picture, the inner lock nut isn't there, and the terminal bolt is crooked in the hole, likely shorting. Also see the nice fit of the condenser connector. I also note a green condenser wire- not sure if that is one of the good ones or not. If still no spark installed perfectly, try your old one. And make sure you have a red color rotor, as the black and brown ones are useless. George

First, the points must be closed in this position. To verify Georg's suspicion regarding a short circuit, isolate the capacitor (undo its mounting; it must not be in contact with the ground) and measure the resistance between the ground and the terminal. The reading must be infinite (keep the points open during the measurement).

George, I notice that the yellow insulator of the condenser wire is not removed at least to the first attachment of the terminal. I guess it is on thae second one. The insulator removed on both on mine plus solder joint. Laurent.

Gapped the point properly and the car started right up. Thank you for the help. Look out Sandusky?

That's great. Always like an easy fix.
