MG TD TF 1500 - Odd nail
| I posted this one as a part of another thread, but it has piqued my interest so I thought I would start a new thread.
On the back inner edge of the rear inner fender well, there are two round head spiral nails. I have gone over the tub and do not find another area with these nails. They are round head 3/16 diameter head. A spiral shaft that is 1/2" long and a point on the end. While I don't need any, I thought I would investigate the availability. None of the primary TD parts sellers in the US or the UK have these. I checked with Doug at FTFU and Paul at MGbits. Neither has these. In searching the internet, the closest I have found so far is a pinball nail. It is 3/4 inch long. https://www.pinballlife.com/34-rounded-head-spiral-nail.html If anyone can give this a better name, or knows where I might find them, I will add it to the fastener list. Chris. This may be a candidate for your oddity list.

| Might sound a little off, but shoe repair shops use to use them for attaching heels on shoes. I have a pair of boots with the heels attached with them. PJ |

| I received a picture from a gentleman restoring a TF. The nail for the TF is flat. If you have a chance to check, It would be interesting to see if the change was at the TF or if later TD's had the flat head nail screw. A T type upolsterer said the nails are used to tac the piping in prior to putting the fenders on. The nails are made to puncture the body steel.
