MG TD TF 1500 - Old TD picture

I stumbled on this while looking for a long gone railroad location in western Colorado.

Cool picture! Do you know the location and time frame? I took my grandsons for a ride on the Galloping Goose at the Denver Railroad Museum this past summer.

Enjoyed visiting with you during lunch at the Conclave.

It wasn't until I went to the web site that I realized that the Galloping Goose was the whole thing behind the TD!

Very small rear window.

I was searching for the Dallas Divide Depot, Bill. Since the Rio Grande Southern ceased operation in 1951 that would have to have the photo prior to 1952. The location isn't exact but I would guess it was most likley at Ridgway.

Very cool, thanks for sharing. Interesting that the hood and side curtains appear dark or black? George

LaVerne,

Excellent find of an early photo of a TD.

George,

Your computer screen must show up colour shades differently from mine. The TD is fairly dirty as evidenced by the wheel hub caps,
lack of paint sheen etc. If washed down, the hood, side screens colour looks about right. Certainly not blackish on my screen.

Nice to see the right size rear hood window and the sidescreen chrome strips lining up,front and rear top aspects, correctly.

This gets better.... I posted the photo on our Whitworth Nuts face book page and a group member closer to the area of the photo knows the son of the TD owner in the photo. He says he has a color photo of that shot. The car was "Robin Egg blue". Ok we know that would be Clipper Blue. I hope he will email me the photo along with his Dad's name and any other info he may have.

The image file is 51trip5.jpg so I guess that is the rough date. Its with a bunch of other pictures titled 1951 trip.

Only info I got back....

My dad was Bob and mom Connie Schaeffer. I cannot find the color pic. The date was 8/29/1951.
