Hi Guy's proud like hell I am to get this car back on the road again . It took a little over 1.1/2 years to do a real bottom up restoration . Today she sniffed the road for a short drive and believe it or not NO faults ( by me ) whatsoever. Thanks to my fellow Dutchman who was so kind to post the picture on my behalve.

Very nice! Gerard.

I have always like white cars--don't see too many white T-cars.

Nice job, Gerard. I too have white bodywork on the TD, but chose the "apple green" trim from NTG years ago. The green leather started out a bit bright, but over time has settled to a nice deep green. May I ask what is your treatment of the dashboard? In the picture it looks like wood veneer? Regards, John.
J.P. Hall

Nice and clean. I am sure you will enjoy those long summer days driving windy mountain roads with the top down.
Chris Couper

J.P Hall. Thanks for the compliments ( to all ) John as you know the dash has a false dash and on top a dash covered with whatever. I choose to buy a veneered dash from a supplier no not M . it turned out to be very satisfactory If I remember right I paid around usd 200,-- incl freight

Cheers,

Does look nice Gerard. David & John, although it's difficult to tell in the sunlight & I hope I'm not wrong, but I believe the car is actually Ivory, an original TD colour, (also known as the TC colour, Sequoia Cream, Abingdon code YL5. See Malcolm Green's book.) Mine is also Ivory & I totally agree with Malcolm when he says white doesn't look good on a TD. (Have a look at the cover of Horst's book & you'll see what we mean). I have also seen the colour referred to as Old English White but can find no reference to this anywhere else apart from on this site. White is definitely NOT an original colour & as originality is very important to me, I do get a little peeved when people tell me I have a white car! (43 years ago I paid a guy to respray my rear mudguard M.G. Ivory & it came back white! He wouldn't respray it the correct colour unless I paid him again, so I told him exactly what to do with it & bought another guard. Maybe this explains my sensitivity). See pic. Cheers

Peter you are right I bought the paint from PPG ( expensive )and had it mixed in .."old English " white.
The formula was given to me by a friend here in BC
With direct sunlight it seems a bit white.

cheers

Hi there Peter - yes, fair cop, as we say down here - my TD was finished in a hurry 22 years ago(!) as I was leaving Melbourne to return to Queensland. We threw on a couple of coats of a Nissan White which has an element of green in it, thus reducing the starkness of the white to a sort of "old white". With the effluxion of time, the colour has settled well ... but my first job post-retirement eventually will be to remove the body, fix a few gremlins, and improve my painting skills using a proper OEW. I'll keep the green interior, because I like it. Cheers - John.
J.P. Hall

No worries John. I know of 6 TD's being restored here in Sydney at present & five of them are Ivory! Thanks Gerard for identifying the source of the "Old English White". Cheers

Looks great, Gerard. Time to search for another project to keep you busy? Dan

I think Gerard's car is actually black but the brilliant BC sunlight faded it to beautiful white.
Nice car Gerard.

My TD is Ivory and I discovered that Ford Has a color they call Wimbleton White which is a perfect match. You can buy it in spray cans at auto supply stores in the US.

Dan , another project is on his way. My third MG Td .Why I do this ?

Sandy : some people say ; the colours reflect his character LOL.
