MG TD TF 1500 - Open or Closed
Yesterday my wife and I took the TD down to the local gas station for a bit of fuel and to stretch its legs. Its about 7 miles on open roads until you get to suburbia and the common 6 lane roads with signals, people rushing to various stores or wherever they are going. Just as we approached a large intersection a brand new paper plated Porsche Cayman raced by us revving its engine and cutting us off. Windows were all rolled up and blacked out so I could not see who was driving or what their attitude about us was. I left with the impression it was a real jerk. A few seconds later we turned at the signal and were greeted oncoming by an open top Ferrari of a few year old vintage (don't ask me which one). In this case both the driver and passenger turned and stared at us, gave us a wave and thumbs up. Big difference. I can only attribute this to the fact that the Ferrari was out motoring and enjoying the environment. They bought an open cockpit car for full immersion. The Cayman driver was going from place to place as fast as 'he' could. He was all sealed up from the environment and probably had his tunes on full blast too. Probably lucking he did not run into me. |

Proving once again... it's all about the trip, not the destination. |

There is nothing like air on your face for putting you "in" the moment. That's why I love motorcycles... |

Reminds me of the Aussie joke: Q: What's the difference between a Porsche and an Echidna? A: The Echidna has the pricks on the outside. (Echidna = ant eater). Matthew. |

Matthew: That's really funny and I am going to use that often. However it will have to be regionalized I suspect as nobody outside of AU will get what an Echidna is, especially Porsche people. So for everyone else: Just substitute either Porcupine or Hedgehog for Echidna as needed. |

Matt, the way I heard that was what's the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? Same principle :) |
