MG TD TF 1500 - OT automated trap door above 2 post lift

Sorry …I don’t remember who ask me about this, or what “thread” it was in?
But I did promise to post it here for them.
Trap door above my 2 post lift. ( I use my lift as an elevator to store things in the attic.)
The door is simply 4X8 - 5/8” OSB and hinged on one side.
The boat winch came from Harbor Freight. $9.00.
12 volt battery jumper from Harbor freight also. $29.00. (Has a cigarette lighter plug that goes to motor.)

Some steel cable and eye hooks from hardware store. $10.00
The motor is from a cheap 18v TaskForce cordless drill from Lowes that the trigger broke on.
Took the motor out of the drill and ground the shaft square to fit a 3/8” 18mm socket.
Wired a switch to reverse polarity (up/off/down) and a button to activate power.
attached it to the wall with an “L” bracket, a muffler clamp, and some rubber strip.
Made a little tin box to mount switches in and cover the motor.
Flip the switch to “up” , press button to open door, flip to “down” to lower it.
Battery jumper has enough amperage to lift the door and is always plugged in to keep it charged.
Really pretty simple set up and better than trying to open the trap door with your head!
Again I can’t recall who ask me for this …but hope you see it!

Well I don't know?
I did not see a lot of Duct Tape there :)

Pretty ingenious though all the same...
Nicely done Dave.

For the record:
At least a 1/2 roll of duct tape was used in the "prototype" stages ...as well as numerous zip-ties! Red would have been proud...he learnt me well.
