MG TD TF 1500 - Part ID

This was in a box of TD parts. Where does it go? Kind of looks like a body brace but I can't find it in any parts catalog.

Not a TD part that I know of.

Well at least I'm not crazy. This TD is somewhat modified, so maybe it was intended for something that never got done. In the scrap pile it goes. Thanks.
