MG TD TF 1500 - passing of George Herschell
From the NEMGTR: George Herschell #185 passed away on Sunday. He was 88. For those who did not have the privilege of knowing George he as an amazing artist who had published a number of books and prints. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends. From a post of him on this site:I heard a good comparison some time ago that said "on a T series car if all the wood is in one piece it only means that the termites are holding hands" RIP George :(!

I have been wondering about George for quite sometime. His drawings were pure artistry. RIP.

What a truly sad day. George was a talented man and a gentleman. One of the good ones, who will be sorely missed. I look at his drawings regularly and marvel. He graciously allowed me to upload his works to my website many years ago. If you haven't seen them, it's worth a look. http://www.mgnuts.com/artwork/drawings/

If you can find one get a copy of "The legend Lives", A History of the MG In Pen and Ink Drawings by George R. Herschell Jr. It is a complete compendium of MG's from Old Number One to the 1972 MGB and includes racing editions. You will not be disappointed. Jim

Simply one of the kindest, warmest most talented and humble people I have ever met. He drove his BRG MGB to Stowe every year for years. It was strange not seeing him the last few years. He will be missed. -David
