MG TD TF 1500 - Pedal box grease fitting?
This may be a rookie question but when working under my TF 1500 tonight, I noticed what appears to be a grease fitting through the frame rail next to the pedal box. I cannot find any such grease fitting in the service manual. Is that what it really is? If so s it an aftermarket addition? |

The fitting is in the end of the pedal shaft which rotates by the clutch pedal in the frame. The brake pedal rotates on this shaft. the fitting greases the frame bushings and the brake pedal bushing. Factory original. See the Workshop Manual and the Archives about the pedal shaft!!! Grease it with chassis grease often! Don H. |

Thanks. I can find no reference to it in my shop manual or on the lubrication chart in the owners manual. |

It's only on left hand drive cars and the manuals were created around right hand drive cars. Bud |

Because no mention in WSM it was often neglected, leading to severe wear of the pedal shaft in the frame and where the brake pedal sits. This lead to badly wobbling pedals because the shaft is so worn. See the Moss catalog fo an exploded view of the pedal assembly page 13 items 22 to 29 in my catalog (page titled Clutch) Several articles have been written about it and the fix. Jeff Delk wrote a good one in mgTalk and Totally T-Type 2. I thought that Bud Kruger had a version ti his ttalk.com If not, give me your email address and I will send it to you |

Thanks for the link, Bud. What a great help this forum is, especially for those of us new to T Types. |
