MG TD TF 1500 - Picture of plug in Arnolt heater
Can anyone put up a picture of one of the "knockouts" that fit in the two round holes of an Arnolt heater? The holes were for defrosters apparently. These are round holes approx. 1 7/8 diameter. If someone has these with the correct knockouts or plugs or whatever you call them, I would love to see a picture, thanks! |

Goeoffrey, Don't know if these will work for you but, you can buy knock out plugs from most electrical supply houses. They use them to weather proof previously knocked out plugs in large electrical panels. Just a thought. They make them in various sizes. PJ |

Paul, the ones I've tried don't fit (without enlarging the hole, anyway). |

Geoff: Talk to Ben, he also has replacement plugs... Slightly different in style but eminently usable.... I needed to get a couple for my heater rebuild. Regards Rod |
Rodney G Murray |
Thanks Rod, I have emailed him. I don't suppose you have one here in Tucson to look at? |

Hey Geoff. I can mail you one tomorrow for you to check out. You can return later with the Lucas knob. Let me know. Larry |

How about just a photo Larry? that might be enough... |

Glad to send. I am somewhat(read lots) challenged when it comes to downloading and uploading pictures and stuff. I have a po box, so I am there every day anyway. |
Larry Brown |
Larry, I think LaVerne has already given me enough information with his post. But thanks! Just tell me, is it a plastic piece or metal? |
Geoffrey M Baker |
Metal. Fairly thin. |

For those who only want to spend $1.96 on plugs, I can report that you can fit a 1 1/2 electrical knockout plug with a little effort. The ring of grips is too tight, but if you put them in a vice, two at a time, and bend them carefully in (and then bend them out again with a pliers), you can get them to pop in.

I'm not sure if I will use them or not. I could have them powdercoated to match, probably for only a few $.

Hi Geoff: My apologies for not replying sooner... Been under the weather for a bit! Yes! I do have the 2 that I got from Ben here in Tucson... Can see if I can post a photo if you still need! Nice job on the powder coat. Regards Rod |

I'm all set for now, Rod. I'll probably keep the knockouts for now and eventually I might pick up a set from Ben Cordsen. I did just buy a great retro illuminated switch and mount from him, they will look great once installed. |
Geoffrey M Baker |
Geoffrey, can you post a photo of the new switch and tell us the cost? Thanks! |

Kevin, it cost me way too much but still :) $48 for the switch, $15 for the housing, and postage. I have an extra switch if you are interested kevin, as I also picked one up on ebay (before discovering Ben had one for sale). It's the wrong mount but looks like the correct switch - and I'll let you have it for what I paid for it if you are interested. That one cost me $39.99. Here's a pic of the ebay switch. Either way no problem, I will put it back up on ebay if you (or others) are not interested... I'll post a picture of Ben's switch when it arrives! ![]() |

I don't actually need a switch - I have the original that came with mine - but I was wondering what he was supplying as an original type switch. Please do post a photo when you get it. Thanks!! |
