MG TD TF 1500 - Piping Under Striker Plate Wedge
How is the piping laid under the striker plate wedge? The pocket in the wood is deep as we all know, but the door will hit the piping before it latches if the core is left in. Do I remove the core in that area or cut the piping before and after the wedge? Don't know how the factory did this. I'm there now and stopped dead until someone tells me how to do this. I know you guys have the answers. Grin. PJ |

I removed the core in that area. I believe that was done originally as well. |

Thanks guys, I knew I would get the answer! Don't know what I'd do without you guys on this site! Makes doing this car so much easier. Well, a little bit easier! LOL. PJ |

remove the core. It's kinda interesting, like working with pasta. |

Looks like your question has been answered. Here is mine. ![]() |

Frank, from the picture on this post and other pictures from previous posts, it appears you have documented many of the upholstery details from an original TF interior. Would you post pictures of the piping under the lock? If you were fortunate enough to have the original seats, would you post how the covering was attached to the seat back both inside and out? This would be extremely helpful. Thanks, John |

The piping on my TD 29350 goes through area sans core. This is the original upholstery. .... ![]() |

JR, Hope this helps for piping under the locks. I do have the original seats with factory leather. I can take pictures. Don't have any on the computer. ![]() |

Frank's last pic shows the original method of using 4 tacks to secure the door buffer rubber. A nice detail. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Thank you Frank. Details of original seat upholstery assembly will be very helpful. Looking forward to seeing how the factory did it back in the old days. |
